EXCLUSIVE: Belgian supermodel Rose Bertram is talking candidly about a new documentary that documents both her career and family life, and the ways she has handled her mother’s struggle with addiction.
Production has just finished on A Girl Like Rose. “Watching the completed film felt like seeing my life play out again,” she said. “I hadn’t anticipated how overwhelming it would be to view it all and have so many emotions and long-buried traumas resurface.”
The documentary was shot over a six-year period and is directed by Jonathan de Jong, produced under his Amsterdam-based banner SUPER7EVEN Productions.
Bertram, who rose to prominence as a teenager, has modeled for brands such as H&M, L’Oréal, AP and appeared in Sports Illustrated, while also building a presence as an influencer and content creator. A Girl Like Rose captures the glossy side of modeling in settings like Cannes, Ibiza and Los Angeles, but it also follows Bertram off the runway and beyond red carpets as she balances her professional life with her relationship with her mother, Maria, amid the challenges posed by addiction.

“The part of my life I kept hidden for so long is now, in a way, being shown to the world,” Bertram said. “That’s something I’m deeply proud of, but it also leaves me feeling exposed. The film makes clear how much I love my mom and, at the same time, how hard it can be to keep that love intact when addiction strains the bond between you.”
She added, “Reliving these moments has been painful, but my hope is that by telling my story I can reach others who’ve faced similar hardships. If sharing what I’ve gone through helps even one person feel less alone or gives someone the strength to open up about their own experiences, then being vulnerable about my past will have been worth it.”
Bastiaan Brand is credited as the film’s creative producer and Bob Thole composed the score. MN Media will handle distribution in the Netherlands, with High Mass taking care of Belgium.
The feature documentary is slated for release in 2027. First-look images have been released.
