EXCLUSIVE: Bruno Dubé’s Sphere Media has teamed up with Canadian producer Paul Barbeau to attract international scripted television drama productions to Quebec.
Sphere, whose recent slate includes Cardinal and Netflix’s Mae Martin-led Wayward, and which also holds a stake in Heated Rivalry distributor Sphere Abacus, will partner with Barbeau’s Fairmount Films imprint to scout and support opportunities for bringing scripted TV shoots to Quebec.
“I can’t wait to bring new scripted series production opportunities to Quebec and plan on making it a major international production hub going forward,” Barbeau said.
The collaborators say the arrangement pairs Barbeau’s production know‑how and industry connections with Sphere’s operational backbone, resources and production capacity.

Under the agreement, Barbeau will bring scripted series projects to Sphere and will act as Line Producer on selected shows, handling on‑the‑ground production logistics and budget oversight. Sphere will supply the necessary corporate and administrative framework for any productions that move forward.
“When I learned Paul intended to attract service work for scripted series to Quebec, I jumped at the chance to collaborate with him,” said Dubé, CEO and president of Sphere Media. “This alliance will bolster Sphere’s service production offering and help position Quebec as a desirable location for Canadian, American and international scripted TV shoots.”
Montreal‑based Barbeau brings nearly 30 years of experience in Canadian and international film production and has been expanding into scripted television. His credits include To Catch a Killer, Pieces of a Woman and Arrival.
“Paul will be responsible for courting projects and building producer relationships, while applying the same practical production disciplines he has honed on feature films to series work,” Dubé added.
