Nobody Wants This Creator Erin Foster Teases Season 4 — More Story to Tell, Won't Get Attached

If Netflix is on board, Erin Foster says she’s ready to bring a fourth season of her Jewish romantic comedy.

After the third season of Nobody Wants This premiered, the show’s creator told Parade that she has additional storylines she’d like to explore if the streamer opts to renew the series — though she tries not to become overly invested in what will happen next.

“There are those next steps as people who are not in their 20s, getting married and you’re starting off already kind of behind everyone else,” she explained, recalling her own experience of getting married at 37. Foster said that path felt different and that those later-life transitions offer fertile ground for more storytelling.

She added that she keeps a flexible approach, allowing audience reaction and the marketplace to help determine a show’s direction. Foster said she doesn’t want a series to continue past the point when viewers stop wanting it; she’d prefer to leave audiences wanting more rather than dragging a story out.

The series — which draws on Foster’s marriage to music executive Simon Tikhman — follows agnostic podcaster Joanne Williams (Kristen Bell), who embarks on an unexpected romance with Rabbi Noah Roklov (Adam Brody). Their relationship unsettles both families as Joanne dives into Noah’s traditions and ultimately chooses to pursue conversion to Judaism.

Foster’s openness to continuing the show was voiced after she addressed backlash over Brody’s public support of “Free Palestine,” an issue that provoked criticism from some pro-Israel viewers of the program. Regarding Brody’s stance, she said she loves him personally but doesn’t agree with his position — and that it’s possible for those differences to coexist.
