The Los Angeles Dodgers are actively shaping their roster during the MLB offseason.
It has been reported that the Dodgers have signed former NLCS MVP and 2021 World Series champion Eddie Rosario to a minor-league deal, with the news confirmed by MLB insider Ari Alexander.
At 33 years old, Rosario joins a series of new acquisitions by the Dodgers this offseason, bringing with him a wealth of postseason experience as the team seeks to secure another World Series title.
Originating from Guayama, Puerto Rico, Rosario has seen some challenges in recent seasons but remains not far removed from his championship victory with the Atlanta Braves. During that postseason, he achieved a 1.073 OPS and contributed three homers and 11 RBIs over 16 games. Notably, the Braves clinched victory over the Dodgers in the 2021 NLCS, where Rosario earned the MVP title.
In the 2024 season, Rosario played for both the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves, participating in a combined total of 91 games. His performance was subdued, with a -1.6 WAR and a .531 OPS, alongside 10 home runs and 35 RBIs.
The Dodgers, known for their dynamic offseason activities, consider the signing of Rosario on a minor-league contract a strategic, low-risk investment. Both the team and Rosario are hopeful that this new chapter will allow him to overcome recent struggles and rediscover his former prowess at the plate.
