Blake Snell has quickly found a new home this offseason.
On Tuesday evening, the illustrious two-time Cy Young Award recipient inked a five-year, $182 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to various sources. This agreement positions him at an annual salary of $36.4 million.
The 31-year-old southpaw made the decision to leave the San Francisco Giants at the beginning of November. He had originally signed a two-year, $62 million contract in March but chose to opt out and explore free agency rather than stay for the second year.
In the 2024 season, Snell recorded a 5-3 win-loss record, a 3.12 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and struck out 145 batters across 104 innings in 20 starts. This performance came on the heels of an exceptional 2023 season with the San Diego Padres, where he achieved a 14-9 record, a 2.25 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and 234 strikeouts in 180 innings.
By joining the Dodgers, Snell adds his talent to an already formidable rotation that includes star pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow. The trio’s contracts together are valued at an impressive $622 million.
The reigning World Series champions have significantly bolstered their lineup with this acquisition.
