Juan Soto Says Mets Did Not Offer Him the Most Money in Free Agency
Juan Soto Agrees to a $765 Million Deal with the Mets, Despite Higher Offers Elsewhere

This offseason, Juan Soto made headlines by signing a staggering 15-year contract worth $765 million with the New York Mets, which might escalate to $805 million with certain conditions.

Soto revealed that this wasn’t the highest offer he received during the offseason.

In an appearance on the Spanish-language podcast Abriendo El Podcast hosted by Dominican journalists Vian Araujo Puello and Ricardo Rodríguez, Soto disclosed that his final discussions involved five teams: the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Mets.

“The Mets didn’t offer the most money,” Soto stated, as reported by NJ.com. “Other teams proposed more than the Mets did.”

The Instagram preview of the interview concludes as Rodríguez inquires whether Soto would name those teams. The complete podcast episode is scheduled for release on Sunday.
