Scottie Scheffler to Miss Another PGA Tour Start Due to Hand Injury
The top-ranked golfer in the world is aiming to kick off his playing season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am later this January.

Scottie Scheffler will miss another upcoming PGA Tour event due to his hand injury.

Scheffler, who is the current No. 1 in the world and was last year’s PGA Tour player of the year, injured his hand while preparing Christmas dinner. The accident necessitated surgery and resulted in him missing the season opener in Hawaii.

He was slated to compete at the American Express in Palm Springs, California, next week.

However, Scheffler took to social media on Monday to announce that he will also be missing this tournament.

“After talking it over with my medical team, I’ve decided to pull out of next week’s American Express tournament to allow more healing time for my injury,” Scheffler explained. “I’m still hopeful to start my 2025 season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.”

This event is still three weeks out, taking place from January 30 to February 2. It was won last year by Wyndham Clark. Scheffler had not planned to participate in this week’s Sony Open or the Farmers Insurance Open happening in two weeks.

On December 27, Scheffler shared that he had sustained a puncture wound on the palm of his right hand from a piece of broken glass.

The two-time major winner had a stellar season last year, claiming seven victories on the PGA Tour, including prestigious wins at the Masters and Players Championship. He also secured an Olympic gold medal and finished off the year with a victory at Tiger Woods’s Hero World Challenge, a non-official tournament, last month.
