‘The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Wins Audie Award & Reveals Why It’s So Meaningful: “You Are What Keeps Me From Going Over The Edge”

Whoopi Goldberg, an esteemed EGOT recipient, recently celebrated a win at the 2025 Audie Awards, which honors achievements in audiobooks and spoken-word presentations.

On a recent episode of the ABC daytime talk show The View, where she serves as moderator, Goldberg proudly displayed her new trophy. She clinched the Best Narration award for her work on the audiobook of her novel, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me.

During the broadcast, Goldberg explained her absence from home during Donald Trump’s speech to Congress by saying, “I was incredibly honored to be receiving an Audie Award for my narration that evening.”

The award held special significance for her. “I’ve often mentioned the pivotal role books played in my life, especially because my mother would read to me all the time due to my dyslexia,” Goldberg shared. “With audiobooks now available, children who face similar challenges as I did can easily access audio for educational materials and much more.”

Continuing, she expressed her deep appreciation for audiobooks, “They keep me grounded and allow me to engage in lively, enjoyable discussions here. It’s truly the audiobooks and the people who create them that make this possible.”

Goldberg humorously commented on meeting other narrators, saying, “I feel like I’ve slept with all of you since I listen to so many of you at night.”

“The highlight for me was recognizing the voices of people from the audiobooks I’ve listened to,” she added. “It felt like paradise. So, thank you all.”
