Despite the significant buzz generated by Meghan Markle’s association with The Gentlemen, the series has not seen a corresponding boost in UK viewership as per the latest statistics.
The second season of Guy Ritchie’s stylish crime series made its debut on Netflix on September 3, and within a week, the premiere episode attracted 3 million viewers in Britain.
This figure represents a 15% decrease in viewership compared to the first episode of Season 1, which had drawn 3.5 million viewers when it premiered in March 2024.
These ratings were provided by Overnights.tv through Barb, the official agency monitoring television audiences in the UK. It’s important to note that these numbers reflect viewers rather than the total number of streams, which is what Netflix reports.
Despite the different methodologies for measuring viewership, both sources indicate a similar downward trend. Katie Campione from Deadline reported that The Gentlemen garnered 6.7 million streams over its initial four days on Netflix.

The show ranked third on Netflix’s list of English TV shows for the period from August 31 to September 6, yet it experienced nearly a 50% drop in audience numbers during the first weekend compared to the premiere of Season 1.

This pattern of declining viewership with successive seasons is not unique to The Gentlemen. It’s a trend observed across various Netflix series, even among blockbuster successes like Wednesday.
Amidst rampant rumors about Meghan Markle possibly joining the cast, The Gentlemen has been renewed for a third season. However, Netflix and the show’s creators have neither confirmed nor denied these speculations.
The Gentlemen features Theo James as Eddie Horniman, who inherits his father’s large rural estate, only to find out it’s the center of a sprawling cannabis operation.
