Whoopi Goldberg Calls Out Elon Musk Following Criticism Of Lupita Nyong’o’s Rumored Character In Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’: “Go Sit Down”

Whoopi Goldberg publicly criticized Elon Musk following his negative comments about Lupita Nyong’o’s potential role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey.

Goldberg, a renowned EGOT winner, came to Nyong’o’s defense after Musk accused Nolan of compromising his artistic integrity by potentially casting the Academy Award-winning actress as Helen of Troy, based on unverified speculation.

“Look, Homer might have portrayed this mythical figure as fair-skinned and blonde, a beauty that sparked a war,” Goldberg remarked. “But let’s be clear, Lupita is globally acknowledged as one of the most stunning women alive. So, what exactly are you implying?”

Goldberg added, “You’re not obligated to watch the film. Honestly, I’m puzzled why you feel compelled to comment on this. If you’re concerned about appearances, perhaps start with your own reflection.”

In anticipation of a possible backlash from Musk’s followers, Goldberg preemptively dismissed any critical responses about her own appearance.

“Save your breath trying to mock me, darling. I’m well aware of how I look,” she stated. “There are plenty of harsh words I could throw your way, but I’ll hold back. Just know, I’m thinking them.”

As the discussion continued with other panelists on The View, Goldberg concluded, “Elon, just take a seat. In matters of the arts, please, just sit this one out.”

Nyong’o was confirmed to join the cast of The Odyssey in November 2024, although her specific role has yet to be announced.

The Odyssey, set to be released on July 17, 2026, is an adaptation of Homer’s legendary epic, which chronicles the adventurous return of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, after the Trojan War. The film features an ensemble cast including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Elliot Page, among others.

Both Whoopi and Elon can be equally exhausting.
