The 96th Academy Awards celebrated cinematic achievements by handing out the prestigious Oscar awards at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood, Los Angeles on Sunday, March 10th.

The glamorous red carpet event commenced with notable arrivals including Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Brady Corbet, Boyd Holbrook, Denis Villeneuve, Bowen Yang, Jacki Weaver, Joan Chen, Diane Warren, Marlee Matlin, Jeff Goldblum, June Squibb, Rachel Sennott, and Clarence Maclin.

Conan O’Brien took on the hosting duties, with an impressive roster of presenters such as Halle Berry, Sterling K. Brown, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Ana de Armas, Robert Downey Jr., Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, Goldie Hawn, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Cillian Murphy, Connie Nielsen, Amy Poehler, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, June Squibb, Ben Stiller, Emma Stone, Oprah Winfrey, Dave Bautista, Harrison Ford, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, and Rachel Zegler.

The contenders for Best Picture include Anora; The Brutalist; A Complete Unknown; Conclave; Dune: Part Two; Emila Pérez; I’m Still Here; Nickel Boys; The Substance, and Wicked.

Emila Pérez led the nominations with 13, followed by The Brutalist and Wicked with 10 nominations each, A Complete Unknown and Conclave with 8 nominations, and Anora with 6.

The acting categories feature 13 first-time nominees including Sebastian Stan, Yura Borisov, Kieran Culkin, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Strong, Karla Sofía Gascón, Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, Fernanda Torres, Monica Barbaro, Ariana Grande, Isabella Rossellini, and Zoe Saldaña. First-time director nominees include Sean Baker, Brady Corbet, James Mangold, Jacques Audiard, and Coralie Fargeat.

I’m Still Here, starring Fernanda Torres, is the first Brazilian film nominated for Best Picture. If Torres wins Best Actress, she will be the first Latina to win in this category. The film’s director, Walter Salles, previously directed Torres’s mother, Fernanda Montenegro, in Central Station, which earned her a Best Actress nomination in 1999. Wicked and Emilia Pérez also received Best Picture nominations, marking the first time since 1968 that two musicals have been nominated in this category.

The Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC and streamed on Hulu on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The official live red carpet coverage will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
