It turns out that Philadelphia isn’t always blessed with clear skies, as evidenced by a delay at the Eagles-Cowboys game at Lincoln Financial Field.
During the anticipated NFL Kickoff Game in Philadelphia, a severe thunderstorm alert led to the evacuation of the stadium, causing a game delay that might extend over an hour, as reported during the broadcast.
“The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area. The storm could bring lightning and strong winds,” announced NFL on Fox via social media. “For your safety, please leave the seating area immediately and find cover in the concourses. We appreciate your cooperation.”
The game was paused at about 10:25pm ET with the Eagles ahead of the Cowboys 24-20, and just under five minutes left in the third quarter. The match is anticipated to continue at 11:30pm.
