Natalia Dontcheva Dies: Star Of French Version Of ‘Doc Martin’ Was 56

Natalia Dontcheva, renowned for her role in the French production of Doc Martin on TF1, has passed away at the age of 56.

Her stepson, French film producer Hugo Sélignac, confirmed her death. While the exact cause of death remains undisclosed, Sélignac mentioned that Dontcheva faced a “ten-year battle.”

Sélignac, son of filmmaker Arnaud Selignac, expressed his deep admiration and love for her, stating, “You can’t imagine how wonderful I thought you were and how deeply loved you were.”

As reported by British media, her agent Laurent Savry conveyed, “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Natalia Dontcheva.

“She was a deeply talented artist and a woman of great sensitivity. Natalia Dontcheva captivated audiences with her precise acting, elegance, and total dedication to her profession.”

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1969, Dontcheva starred in Doc Martin, a French adaptation of the popular British series, from 2011 to 2015 which aired on ITV.

Her most recent work was in the French drama Disturbing Disappearances. She received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Quebec Cinema Awards in 2019 for her role in Sashinka.
