As Inside The NBA and TNT brace for significant changes, the team’s most towering figure will remain.
On Friday, Front Office Sports revealed that Shaquille O’Neal has inked a massive new agreement with TNT to continue his role as Inside The NBA transitions to ESPN following Warner Bros.’ loss of NBA broadcasting rights. According to reporters Michael McCarthy and Ryan Glasspiegel, the contract is valued at $15 million per year.
The uncertainty surrounding Shaq’s contract had been a major talking point as the NBA approached its All-Star break. There was widespread speculation about the future of Inside The NBA amidst TNT’s loss of NBA rights. However, in November, it was announced that TNT would license the beloved studio show to be aired on ESPN and ABC starting from the 2025-26 season. This arrangement raised questions about whether the show’s iconic quartet would stay intact.
NBA enthusiasts can rest easy now. It appears that Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaq will continue to anchor the Inside The NBA set for the foreseeable future.
