‘Ludwig’ Season 2 Teaser Trailer: David Mitchell’s Puzzling Detective Returns To BBC & BritBox

EXCLUSIVE: The BBC has just dropped an exciting new trailer for Ludwig, featuring David Mitchell in his charming role as a hermit-like puzzle designer turned sleuth.

Produced by Big Talk Studios, the show is set to make a comeback later this year following its highly successful first season, which marked the BBC’s most successful comedy debut since 2018 when it premiered in 2024.

The series sees the return of David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin to the drama. New regular cast members include Mark Bonnar (Guilt) and Sian Clifford (Fleabag). Additionally, returning cast members are Dylan Hughes as Henry Betts-Taylor, Dorothy Atkinson as DCS Carol Shaw, Ralph Ineson as Chief Constable Ziegler, and Karl Pilkington as DI Matt Neville.

Ludwig is a production by Big Talk Studios in collaboration with That Mitchell and Webb Company, co-produced with BritBox and ZDF, for the BBC. ITV Studios is also involved, handling international distribution.

The series was greenlit by Jon Petrie, BBC’s director of comedy. The second season is penned by Mark Brotherhood and directed by George Kane and Stella Corradi.

The executive production team includes Kenton Allen and Toby Welch from Big Talk Studios; Mark Brotherhood, David Mitchell, Kathryn O’Connor, Chris Sussman; Robert Schildhouse and Stephen Nye for BritBox; and Claus Wunn and Frank Seyberth for ZDF. Georgie Fallon is the producer, with Anya Wilson as the co-producer. Gregor Sharp and Roya Eslami are the commissioning editors for the BBC.
