‘Home Improvement’s Patricia Richardson Reunites With TV Sons Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Taran Noah Smith: “My Other Boys”

While a revival on the screen may seem unlikely, the cast from Home Improvement remains tightly knit off-screen.

This week saw a heartwarming gathering between Patricia Richardson and her onscreen sons from the beloved ABC series that aired from 1991 to 1999. Richardson played the family matriarch, Jill Taylor.

Richardson shared a selfie on social media with Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Taran Noah Smith, who portrayed her sons Randy and Mark on the show, captioning the photo “My other boys.” Zachery Ty Bryan played their elder brother, Brad.

This reunion follows comments from Tim Allen, who starred as the TV show dad, regarding complications about a series reboot due to “personality issues” among the actors who played his sons.

“They often discuss how to proceed, but it falls through because of some current personality clashes with the boys,” Allen explained to Us Weekly back in June. “I thought a plot focusing on them would be interesting. Right now, that’s somewhat difficult to manage.”

While Richardson noted that Thomas and Smith have stepped away from acting, Bryan is presently serving a 16-month sentence in a California prison due to multiple violations of probation, after several DUIs and a domestic violence charge.

Richardson expressed her surprise over Allen’s public statements claiming the cast was all set for the reboot, noting he had not approached her about it and that she would choose not to participate regardless.
