EXCLUSIVE: Broadcasting live from the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, get ready for a Saturday Night Live masterclass!
The 51st and final gathering of the Edinburgh TV Festival will feature SNL UK stars Emma Sidi and Jack Shep, alongside a host of writers, producers, and commissioners from the show, as they debut a new segment called Funny Business.
Sponsored by Universal Studio Group (USG), this new segment aims to celebrate the comedy industry and highlight key figures driving its future. The successful debut season of SNL UK serves as a great kickoff point.
USG, the parent company of SNL UK co-producer Universal Alternative Television Studios, launched Funny Business three years after initiating a comedy showcase in partnership with the Edinburgh TV Festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, and USG. Entry to the Funny Business track is priced at £99 ($130) plus VAT.

The SNL UK Masterclass panel will include notable figures such as Helen Kruger Bratt, Managing Director of UTAS UK; James Longman, Lead Producer of SNL UK; Daran “Jonno” Johnson, Head Writer; Liz Clare, Director; Kevin Fortune, Head of Wigs and Make-Up; Phil Edgar Jones, Executive Director of Unscripted Originals at Sky; and cast members Shep and Sidi.
This event is scheduled for Friday, August 28, as part of the Funny Business track. It aims to bring together creative minds, commissioners, producers, and industry leaders to share ideas, discover new talent, and explore the future directions of comedy.
The final Edinburgh TV Festival, before it relocates to Greater Manchester in 2027, will take place at the end of next month. The industry is divided on whether this move, after 51 years in Scotland, represents a positive shift. Just moments ago, Deadline announced that plans are in motion for a new television event in Edinburgh.
