The Pitt has been confirmed to continue. HBO Max has announced that the hospital drama will return for a third season, even before the second season has premiered.
This announcement was made during the premiere of the second season in Los Angeles.
Created by R. Scott Gemmill, the show stars Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch and explores the lives of medical professionals at a Pittsburgh hospital.
The cast also includes Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, and Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Al-Hashimi.
Last month, Deadline reported that Rusty Schwimmer, Jayne Taini, and Annabelle Toomey will appear in recurring roles for the second season, along with Lawrence Robinson, Brittany Allen, Bonita Friedericy, Taylor Handley, and Jeff Kober, Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson, and Zack Morris.

New additions to the cast include Meta Golding, Luke Tennie, Christopher Thornton, and Travis Van Winkle.
However, Tracy Ifeachor will not be returning for Season 2 as Dr. Heather Collins.
The series is a production of John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers include Gemmill, Wyle, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan, and Michael Hissrich.
The Pitt will debut its second season on Thursday, January 8 at 9 PM ET.
The upcoming season will resume 10 months after the end of the first season, which wrapped up on April 10. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill has hinted that the second season will unfold over a Fourth of July weekend, focusing on a day-long shift that promises a range of ER cases.
Gemmill has also suggested that Dr. “Robby” Robinavitch, played by Wyle, will confront his need for mental health support in Season 2. A significant storyline in the first season was Robby’s struggle with the death of his mentor during the pandemic.
Recently, Wyle received the Best Actor in a Drama Series award at the Critics Choice Awards.
“I am incredibly touched. I owe so much to everyone here—from my partner [R.] Scott Gemmill, to Sarah Aubrey and Joey Chavez at HBO Max, to the entire Warner Bros. team, to my wonderful wife Sara [Wells], to my fellow cast members, to our writers, to the directors who helm the show, and to our crew and cast,” he expressed.

Good on them. Renewing a show early shows confidence and helps keep an audience because they know the show will continue. I know this is a foreign concept to the current leaders of streamers but give it a try. It actually works.
