Alex Cooper, formerly a standout high school soccer player who attended Boston University on a full athletic scholarship, recently revealed her experiences of increasing sexual harassment by her coach, Nancy Feldman. She recounted that these events led her to quit the team in her senior year.
These revelations surfaced during the debut of part one of the Hulu documentary series Call Her Alex at the Tribeca Festival, causing a stir among the audience. In a subsequent Q&A session, Cooper disclosed that it took her a decade to speak out, largely motivated by the documentary that offers an inside look at the premiere live show of her popular podcast, Call Her Daddy, starting in Boston. Director Ry Russo-Young had her revisit the BU soccer field to reflect on her past experiences there.
“Stepping back onto that field, I immediately felt diminished, just as vulnerable as when I was 18. I was faced with a figure of authority who misused their power. Suddenly, I wasn’t the influential ‘Call Her Daddy’ host anymore; I was a woman whose life was profoundly altered by harassment, robbing me of my greatest passion,” Cooper explained during the Q&A.

She decided to share her story as a step towards healing and because she believes the issue persists at the college.
Feldman retired in 2022, but according to Cooper, some university officials who initially dismissed her claims are still employed at the university. In the documentary, she portrays these officials as unhelpful, offering to maintain her scholarship but not to take further action against Feldman.
Boston University has been contacted by Deadline for a response.
“While filming this documentary, I learned that such harassment and abuse of power still occur at Boston University. After speaking with another victim, I realized I had to speak up; otherwise, these abuses would continue,” Cooper stated.
“The magnitude of women likely affected by similar experiences, not only at this university but globally in various workplaces, struck me. It’s a widespread issue. The enormity of the problem and my own fears about speaking out underscored the urgency of addressing these issues publicly,” she added.
Cooper also expressed her dismay that her alleged harasser was another woman.
In her documentary, she described a pattern that began in her sophomore year, with Feldman increasingly focusing on her personally rather than her athletic performance, making inappropriate inquiries about her body and personal life, attempting to isolate her, and making unwelcome physical contact.
“It turned into a manipulative game where playing time was contingent on sharing personal details about my sex life,” Cooper recounted in the documentary. She described how resistance was met with threats of “consequences,” including significant bench time during crucial games, which confused and frustrated her teammates.
Hulu released a trailer last week. The series launches on June 10.
Cooper has hinted at past college traumas before.
She first started the advice and comedy podcast Call Her Daddy in 2018 with then co-host Sofia Franklyn under Barstool Sports, and later signed a deal reportedly worth $60 million with Spotify in 2021. The podcast soared in popularity, ranking just behind The Joe Rogan Experience before she transitioned to a $120 million deal with SiriusXM last year.
“Reflecting on this ordeal, I realized the resources I had, like affording a lawyer, aren’t available to everyone. The fear is still overwhelming. I was dismissed when I initially came forward during college, which was discouraging. It’s daunting because the system seems rigged against us, but I’m determined to use my platform to encourage others to share their stories. It’s only through open dialogue that real change can happen,” Cooper expressed emphatically.
