Nancy Dubuc Resurfaces: Former Vice Media And A+E Networks Chief Joins Women’s Sports Brand Togethxr As Executive Chair

After stepping down as CEO of Vice Media earlier in 2023, Nancy Dubuc has taken up a new executive position in a company filled with like-minded professionals.

Dubuc has joined the women’s sports brand Togethxr as the executive chair. The brand, despite its unconventional spelling, is pronounced “together.”

In addition to her new role, Dubuc continues to serve on the boards of Flutter Entertainment, Webtoon Entertainment, and Warner Music.

Togethxr has gained attention for its catchy slogan “everyone watches women’s sports,” which has featured on various merchandise like T-shirts, hoodies, and bags in recent years. The brand was launched by professional athletes Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Simone Manuel, and Sue Bird. It also includes media experts such as former Huffington Post executive Betsy Morgan and past Disney entertainment leader Susan Lyne. Last year, the company recruited Tina Tozzi, a former Westbrook Media executive, to lead development.

Both Alex Morgan and Susan Lyne have transitioned into more finance-centric roles after years in media and tech. Morgan helped start Magnet Companies, which specializes in media and commerce and is backed by private equity. Lyne co-founded and manages BBG Ventures. Both entities are financial supporters of Togethxr.

Togethxr has also welcomed new financial backing from Checker Media, an investment firm established by Jesse Angelo, a former executive at Vice Media and the New York Post.

The company recently announced a significant influx of investment capital, reporting profitability and substantial growth in both revenue and valuation—doubling since the previous funding round. With a growing fan base in women’s sports arenas like the WNBA, NCAA women’s basketball, softball, volleyball, and the NWSL, Togethxr’s revenue has tripled year-over-year, reaching $6 million in 2024. The increasing popularity of women’s sports has attracted numerous advertisers, culminating in major brand campaigns and notable moments at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As the new executive chair, Dubuc, who was a collegiate rower at Boston University, will guide the Togethxr team on brand strategy and coordinate with investors and board members.

Dubuc expressed her enthusiasm about her new role, stating, “I have spent my career navigating various sectors of the media industry, and I am thrilled to dedicate this next chapter to a promising growth opportunity. I firmly believe in the power of teamwork in business, and I look forward to working alongside this impressive team of athletes, executives, and investors to demonstrate that investing in women’s sports is not only viable but profitable.”
