As Busy Philipps gears up for the second season of her QVC+ late-night series, she discusses her role in the predominantly male late-night landscape.
The anchor of Busy This Week recently spoke about being the lone female late-night host as her show makes its comeback on the free streaming service on May 21 at 10pm ET. She emphasized the importance of “creating our own opportunities.”
“Earlier today, I mentioned how ridiculous this glass ceiling is, but I’m glad to be smashing it. However, what’s going on? It feels like we’re overdue for this change. If we can break into late-night, perhaps next is a female president,” Philipps stated.
She expressed disappointment over the cancellation of her first talk show, Busy Tonight, after just one season on E!, and talked about how she found an unexpected new platform for her current late-night project.

“If you’re not given a seat at the table, you have to find another table. And sometimes that table is also for sale,” she quipped. “We sometimes need to think outside the box to create our own spaces.”
In the upcoming season, Philipps had the opportunity to sit down with late-night icon David Letterman. “It was quite nerve-wracking, I won’t pretend otherwise. It was intense,” she confessed. “But it turned out to be a great experience, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
This new season of Busy This Week, also available on HSN+, features notable guests like Michelle Williams, Andrew Rannells, and Chrissy Metz, among others.
