The fourth season of The Righteous Gemstones opened with an episode set in 1862, titled Prelude. This 43-minute opener, reminiscent of a Civil War film complete with graphic violence, stars Bradley Cooper as an ancestor of the Gemstone family. Cooper’s character is portrayed throughout the episode as a devious crook willing to go to any length for money, including murder and masquerading as a pastor to infiltrate a Confederate unit as a Chaplain. His journey towards redemption is central to the episode.
This season marks the final run for The Righteous Gemstones, which airs Sundays at 10 PM on HBO and its streaming service, Max.
