EXCLUSIVE: Insiders at Sony Pictures Television have disclosed plans to provide voluntary separation packages to executives in specific sectors, according to information obtained by Deadline. This week, confusion has spread among employees at Sony TV, with numerous staff members under the mistaken impression that the separation offers would be widely available throughout the company, due to communication errors, sources indicate.
These separation initiatives will be selectively applied, confined to executives within departments seen as having lower prospects for growth, sources report. Contrary to some buyout programs that consider the duration of an employee’s service, these offers will not factor in tenure. It remains uncertain how many individuals will be affected by these changes.
The planned buyouts are reportedly a strategic move by Ravi Ahuja, the new Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, aiming to reallocate resources towards more profitable segments of the business.
