‘Grey’s Anatomy’ To Pause Production Friday Amid “National Shutdown” Anti-ICE Protests

BREAKING NEWS: The upcoming national protests against ICE are set to impact Hollywood. Sources have confirmed to Deadline that ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy will halt production on January 30th. This decision aligns with the growing support for the national strike called by student groups from the University of Minnesota.

Sources indicate that the halt in production was decided after it became clear that many crew members from the Shondaland/20th Television production would not be coming in. Filming is expected to pick up again on Saturday, according to insiders.

As of now, there are no updates about other Hollywood productions being affected. We will provide updates as they become available.

The “National Shutdown” is being organized by UMN’s Somali Student Association and Black Student Union, following the deaths of Minneapolis protestors Renee Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of federal agents. Minneapolis has become a focal point in the struggle against ICE.

Organizers from the Twin Cities are calling for a comprehensive cessation of normal activities to oppose ICE’s actions, stating on their website, “On Friday, January 30, join us in a day without school, work, or shopping. Say NO to ICE funding.”

News of the shutdown has spread swiftly on social networks, with endorsements from celebrities like Ariana Grande and Pedro Pascal.

Institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles will also remain closed in acknowledgment of the protest. MOCA announced on Instagram that the closure considers the potential impact of planned protests in Downtown Los Angeles on both staff and visitors.
