With artificial intelligence increasingly blending into the backdrop of everyday life, Vince Gilligan is championing the cause of transparency within the entertainment industry.
The mind behind Pluribus, whose latest series debuted its initial two episodes this past Friday on Apple TV+, made a point to clarify in the series’ credits that the production was accomplished without the use of AI technology.
The credits proudly proclaim, “This show was made by humans,” following a series of producer acknowledgements.

In Pluribus, portrayed by Rhea Seehorn, Albuquerque author Carol Sturka is one of only 12 individuals on Earth immune to an alien virus that converts the global population into a hopelessly optimistic collective consciousness.
Gilligan has previously expressed his skepticism towards AI during discussions about the series. “I haven’t used ChatGPT, mainly because no one has yet forced me at gunpoint to do so,” he shared with Polygon.
“I will never use it. No offense to those who do,” Gilligan continued. “I actually didn’t think about AI when I was creating Pluribus, which was conceived about eight to ten years ago.”
In other news, Coca-Cola has recently drawn criticism for its AI-generated holiday campaign, while concerns grow in the entertainment sector over AI entities like Tilly Norwood taking over roles traditionally held by human actors and crew.
