Connor Storrie Joins SNL, Unveils New Olivia Rodrigo Song as Dual Role Host

Following an introduction by Blondie’s Debbie Harry for Olivia Rodrigo’s debut performance on Saturday Night Live, Connor Storrie made an unexpected appearance to present Rodrigo’s second song of the evening—a new, yet-to-be-released track from her anticipated album.

Performing a fresh piece from her soon-to-be-released album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, set to be available on June 12, Rodrigo showcased a different vibe with her new single “Begged.” This song, unlike her sharply energetic single “drop dead,” was toned down and carried a more reflective sentiment.

The lyrics, “I could never leave / so I’m patiently learning / pretend it’s not hurting,” were sung with poignant emotion. She continued, “‘Cause they say it’s a virtue / to not let good love slip away.”

Earlier this year, Connor Storrie himself took center stage at Studio 8H during his own premiere hosting gig in late February. His episode featured a number of special appearances, including the U.S. men’s and women’s Olympic hockey champions, and his fellow actor, Hudson Williams.

While Rodrigo has previously graced the stage as a musical guest, this occasion marked her first time hosting the iconic sketch show created by Lorne Michaels. Her past appearances were in 2021 with host Keegan-Michael Key, and in 2023 alongside Adam Driver.

Not only did Storrie surprise the audience this evening, but as mentioned earlier, Debbie Harry introduced Rodrigo’s initial song. Additionally, Aziz Ansari appeared during the Cold Open, portraying FBI director Kash Patel.

In anticipation of her third studio album, Rodrigo recently released “drop dead” along with its visually captivating music video, which was artistically directed by Petra Collins at the Louvre a fortnight ago.
