The Denver Nuggets faced a tough loss against the Houston Rockets this Wednesday night, but the bigger concern emerged from an unexpected pre-game development.
Just before the game began, it was announced that Nikola Jokic would miss the match due to an elbow injury he sustained during warmups. Nuggets’ head coach Mike Malone, in his postgame press conference, revealed that the injury occurred last-minute. At that time, Malone had not yet consulted with the medical team, so the severity of Jokic’s injury was unclear.

Jokic was sidelined due to inflammation in his right elbow, a condition that wasn’t previously reported in the injury list before the game.
Tonight, Nikola Jokic injured his elbow during warm-ups and has been sidelined with right elbow inflammation. The Nuggets will face the Rockets minus Jokic and Aaron Gordon.

Without Jokic and Aaron Gordon, the Nuggets were decisively defeated at home by the Rockets, with a final score of 128-108. Given Jokic’s impressive stats this season—averaging 30.6 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 9.9 assists over 36.9 minutes per game while shooting 55.5% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc—his absence was deeply felt. His level of play is simply irreplaceable.
The Nuggets are undoubtedly anxious about the status of Jokic’s elbow, hopeful that the issue is not severe.
