Luka Dončić, the Dallas Mavericks’ standout player, is sidelined for at least the upcoming month due to a left calf strain he incurred during the team’s Christmas Day defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The extent of the injury was confirmed last Friday.
NBA correspondent Marc Stein reported that after undergoing an MRI and several medical evaluations on Thursday, it was decided that Dončić’s condition would be reassessed in one month.
Before sustaining the injury on Wednesday, Dončić had contributed 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Mavericks will be without Luka Dončić for at least one month before his left calf strain is re-evaluated after an MRI and multiple medical consultations Thursday.
Dallas has three more games in December and 16 in January.

Although Dončić’s performance this season has slightly dipped from the previous year, the Mavericks are currently in fourth place in their conference and boast a marginally better win rate than they did at the end of last season, following their progress to the Western Conference Finals.
Dončić’s absence is a significant loss not only for the Mavericks but also for major broadcasters like TNT, MAX, ESPN, and ABC, each of whom will miss featuring one of the NBA’s major attractions at least once over the next month.
