Peacock’s ‘The ‘Burbs’ Adds 5 To Cast Including Jack Whitehall

New Cast Members Announced for Peacock’s “The ‘Burbs”

Peacock’s new mystery comedy series, The ‘Burbs, is set to welcome a diverse group of actors to its lineup. Jack Whitehall, known for his role in Jungle Cruise, Julia Duffy of Palm Royale fame, Paula Pell from Girls5eva, Mark Proksch of What We Do In The Shadows, and Kapil Talwalkar from Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist are all set to join the ensemble as series regulars.

These new additions will be joining Keke Palmer, who not only stars in the lead role but also serves as an executive producer. This series reimagines the 1989 film starring Tom Hanks, bringing the story into a modern suburban setting.

The contemporary version of The ‘Burbs centers on a young couple who face unexpected challenges when they move back to the husband’s (played by Whitehall) childhood home in the suburbs. Keke Palmer portrays the wife whose life takes a thrilling turn after mysterious new neighbors appear next door. This arrival uncovers dark secrets of their quiet neighborhood and introduces new, life-threatening dangers, disrupting the peaceful community.

The series is penned and executive produced by Celeste Hughey, known for her work on Palm Royale and Dead to Me. Joining her in executive production are Brian Grazer of Empire and Arrested Development, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus from Imagine Entertainment, along with Seth MacFarlane of Ted fame, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson from Fuzzy Door, and Rachel Shukert. Co-executive producers include Dana Olsen, who originally wrote the 1989 film, Amy Aniobi, Zora Bikangaga, and Neil Reynolds. Nzingha Stewart is set to direct the first episode and also serves as an executive producer.

The production is backed by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. This adaptation is one of the latest ventures by Fuzzy Door as part of its extensive television deal with UCP, alongside projects with Imagine Entertainment.

Filming will take place in Los Angeles at Universal Studios Hollywood, precisely where the original 1989 movie was shot. The original film, a horror-comedy also produced by Brian Grazer, starred Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher and was released by Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.
