Patrick Wilson Joins Javier Bardem & Amy Adams In Apple’s ‘Cape Fear’

Patrick Wilson, known for his role in the The Conjuring series, is set to appear alongside Amy Adams and Javier Bardem in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Cape Fear. This new project involves heavy hitters like Nick Antosca, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.

The series Cape Fear draws its inspiration from John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners. This novel was previously adapted into a 1962 movie by J. Lee Thompson, with initial storyboarding by Alfred Hitchcock, and again into a 1991 film directed by Martin Scorsese.

Spanning 10 episodes, Cape Fear is billed as a gripping thriller with a Hitchcockian feel, delving into America’s fascination with true crime in this century. The storyline centers on Amanda (played by Adams) and Steve Bowden (Wilson), a married couple who are both lawyers. Their lives are turned upside down when Max Cady (Bardem), a menacing figure from their past, is released from prison.

The show is a production of UCP, part of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. Alex Hedlund is an executive producer alongside Antosca for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey serve as executive producers with Spielberg for Amblin Television. The development and production of the series are under Antosca’s comprehensive deal with UCP.

His extensive acting portfolio includes appearances in the DC Aquaman movies, Watchmen, Little Children, and the HBO miniseries Angels in America.
