England has made it to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup, capturing the attention of the largest UK viewership of this tournament to date.
Jude Bellingham led the charge with two goals, ousting Norway from the race, as a record 16.8 million people tuned in to watch the 2-1 victory on ITV1.
The broadcast on ITV averaged 12.7 million viewers, as reported by overnight Barb figures provided by overnights.tv.
The match began at 10 p.m. local time at Miami Stadium and surpassed the previous high of 15 million viewers for England’s opening game against Croatia last month.
Despite the substantial numbers, these figures still fell short of past World Cup quarter-finals featuring the England team.
