LA DA Declines To Charge ‘Extraction’ Producer David Guillod For Sexual Assault Over Four Years After He Was Arrested – Update

UPDATE, 4:24 PM: Extraction producer David Guillod will not face sexual assault charges, according to a recent announcement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

“The Sex Crimes Division has thoroughly examined the available evidence and concluded that it cannot establish the sexual assault accusations against David Guillod beyond a reasonable doubt,” stated the office of Nathan Hochman this afternoon.

This late Friday announcement by DA Nathan Hochman follows more than four years after Guillod’s arrest by the LAPD on October 28, 2020, for a claimed sexual assault that occurred a week earlier. At that time, the producer of Atomic Blonde was already facing 11 felony charges in Santa Barbara related to several allegations of sexual assault. This case, which included an alleged assault on Ted actress Jessica Barth and another woman, was dismissed in June 2022. Subsequently, the cases involving two of Guillod’s accusers were transferred to LA County, where the alleged assaults took place.

Hochman’s decision effectively puts a stop to the charges against the former CEO of Primary Wave Entertainment for the time being.

“These allegations describe extremely disturbing behavior, and we extend our deepest sympathy to the accusers who have suffered throughout this lengthy investigative process,” added Hochman’s office on Friday. “It takes immense bravery to report sexual assault, and we commend the courage of the women who stepped forward in this case. Although we cannot proceed with prosecution, we hope their actions encourage other victims of sexual abuse to seek help and report such incidents promptly.”

PREVIOUSLY, OCT 2020 PM: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division, Special Assaults Section, has apprehended David Guillod. Detectives executed a search and arrest warrant at Guillod’s home in Sherman Oaks, as we have discovered.

Guillod’s arrest marks the second major set of charges he has faced, as he was already out on bail for a previous sexual assault charge prosecuted by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.

The LAPD reported that on October 21, 2020, a woman, whose identity remains confidential, alleged that Guillod sexually assaulted her during a meeting one evening. During the raid, Guillod was arrested without any complications by the LAPD and was detained at the Los Angeles Police Metropolitan Detention Center, held on $5 million bail.

Upon announcing the arrest, detectives expressed their interest in speaking with any other individuals who may have been victimized by Guillod and have yet to come forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the detectives at the Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division at (213) 486-6910.

Guillod has been credited in films such as the 2020 Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth, and the 2017 Atomic Blonde and 2019 The Intruder.

Earlier, Guillod surrendered to authorities in Santa Barbara to face multiple charges of sexual assault. The 11 felony counts, including kidnapping, concern three women identified as Jane Does by the office of Santa Barbara District Attorney Joyce Dudley.

One of the incidents reportedly took place at a company retreat in Santa Barbara in 2014. Guillod could face up to 21 years in prison if convicted and is actively contesting the charges.

The allegations date back to late 2017, with at least one incident involving a former assistant to Guillod.

In November 2017, Ted actress Jessica Barth claimed that Guillod, her former manager, drugged and assaulted her during a dinner meeting in 2012. Barth initially reported the incident to the LAPD but retracted her statement after Guillod allegedly threatened her with career-ending legal consequences.

New complaints against another woman in late 2017 prompted Barth to revisit her accusations with the police. These two assault claims led the Los Angeles County D.A. Jackie Lacey’s office to initiate an investigation into the matters.

Criminal Minds actress AJ Cook sued Guillod, her former manager, for $1.6 million in early 2019 for failing to disclose his history as a “sexual predator.” Cook, also known for Final Destination 2, claimed that this omission damaged her reputation as an advocate for women. Previously, in October 2018, Cook had been sued by Primary Wave for allegedly unpaid commissions.

Guillod was dismissed from Primary Wave on November 4, 2017, one day after Barth’s allegations became public. “Primary Wave Entertainment and David Guillod have mutually agreed to part ways effective immediately, David Guillod has resigned from the company,” the management firm announced in a brief statement.
