Ben McKenzie hints at a possible return to The O.C., almost two decades after its conclusion.
The actor, famed for his role as Ryan Atwood in the Fox series from 2003 to 2007, recently discussed the likelihood of the series being revived.
“I can’t say there have been serious discussions, but I’m definitely open to it,” he shared on KIIS 1065. “Sure, if the right conditions are met. It was a fantastic series. We all had such a memorable time, and I was so young, we all were.”
McKenzie added, “Let’s make it happen.”
Watch on Deadline
McKenzie mentioned that his own children are “too young to watch it,” but his 10-year-old “loved it,” along with many younger fans he encounters.
“Now, I have teenagers approaching me, saying they are fans of the show. ‘You weren’t even born when it first aired,'” McKenzie noted. “They watch it with their parents.”
In The O.C., Ryan Atwood (portrayed by McKenzie) is a troubled youth from Corona who is taken in by Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher), a public defender, and his family in the affluent Orange County community. The show also featured stars Adam Brody, Mischa Barton, and Rachel Bilson.
