Ryan Guzman’s character Eddie has rejoined the 118 on ABC’s 9-1-1, and it looks like the scriptwriters are gearing up to enhance his romantic storyline.
The actor hinted that the ninth season will bring new romantic developments for his character, following his and his son Christopher’s return to Los Angeles from Texas.
“I’m excited to see that unfold,” he shared on Entertainment Tonight.
“We’re planning something special, I can’t reveal too much yet,” Guzman added. “We’re gradually introducing it.”
Meanwhile, two seasons after Oliver Stark’s character Buck revealed he is bisexual, Stark acknowledged to Deadline the strong support from fans who ship ‘Buddie’ and understand their eagerness to see Buck end up romantically linked with Eddie, his best friend and fellow firefighter in Los Angeles and the 118.

“Tim Minear, who oversees the script, recently expressed his support for the Buddie storyline during an interview, acknowledging its potential and appeal,” Stark confessed. “I’ve discussed it in past interviews. It’s clear to see why fans would sense a romantic vibe from certain scenes, especially when they’re edited with romantic tunes in the background—it does feel like there’s something more there.”
Guzman and Stark are also set to appear in 9-1-1: Nashville, an upcoming crossover episode with the latest spin-off from the Ryan Murphy franchise.
