Billy Eichner remains open to the possibility of rebooting his hit game show Billy on the Street.
In a recent discussion on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, while promoting his audio memoir Billy on Billy, Eichner shared his surprise at the enduring social media popularity of the show.
“It’s been quite surprising. It’s one of those phenomena you just can’t anticipate,” he explained.
Eichner last brought back the show format for a voter mobilization effort alongside Will Ferrell, supporting Kamala Harris in her 2024 presidential run. “That was somewhat helpful,” Eichner said with a hint of irony. “We did our part. I wish it had inspired more to do the same.”

He added, “Initially, I felt like I couldn’t revisit it. I had to set boundaries. But the love for it is undeniable. Online, where people can be quite critical, including about myself, the reception to Billy on the Street clips is overwhelmingly positive.”
“Those who enjoy it really adore it. They constantly ask for more, to bring it back, especially when times are tough. I’m genuinely moved by this, and I respect their feelings. Although creatively, as an actor, it doesn’t fulfill me like it used to since I’ve evolved from that type of performance,” he remarked, still expressing pride in the show.
Billy on the Street originally aired for three seasons from 2011 to 2014 on Fuse, and later for two more seasons on truTV. It also spawned various web episodes on Funny or Die and promotional content for the 2022 film Bros. Memorable clips, especially the “For A Dollar” segments, continue to be a hit on platforms like TikTok.
“Looking ahead, I aim for a diverse career. I’m figuring out how to balance different projects. My therapist encourages me, saying, ‘You can do it all!’ While I won’t return to doing half-hour episodes of Billy on the Street, we’re exploring what future iterations could look like. But, as they say, never say never. We’ll see,” he concluded.
