Angélica Rivera, once the First Lady of Mexico, is making her comeback to the acting world, taking a leading role in Vix’s new show Con Esa Misma Mirada.
Ending a 17-year hiatus from acting, Rivera has rejoined the TelevisaUnivision network to lead a fresh rendition of the Colombian drama Señora Isabel.
“With all my heart,” Rivera shared on Instagram, along with a teaser of the upcoming series.
Con Esa Misma Mirada draws its narrative from Bernardo Romero Pereiro’s tale of a woman in her fifties who faces abandonment by her husband for a younger woman. Amidst her marital upheaval, she encounters a younger man who rekindles her belief in love.
This storyline previously captivated Mexican audiences in 1997 under the adaptation Mirada de Mujer (“Gaze of a Woman”) by TV Azteca and Argos. It has been adapted several times since, including by Telemundo in 2007 as Victoria, starring Victoria Ruffo, and by TelevisaUnivision in 2021 under the title Si Nos Dejan (“If They Leave Us”). The latest version was produced by Colombia’s RCN in 2023, named Ana de Nadie.

In 2010, she married Enrique Peña Nieto, then Governor of the State of Mexico, and retired from acting. When Nieto became the President of Mexico in 2012, Rivera assumed the role of the First Lady. The couple divorced in 2019 after his presidential term concluded.
Despite offers to return to TV, Rivera only decided to come back for this specific project with Vix.
