Eric Kripke, the creative force behind The Boys franchise, has shared some exciting updates as Prime Video plans to take the series to Mexico with a new spinoff.
Kripke recently enthused about The Boys: Mexico, which boasts Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal as executive producers. He described it as “super fun” and noted that it strikes a “completely different tone” compared to the original series.
“We’re currently developing the pilot for [The] Boys: Mexico,” Kripke mentioned in an interview with Collider. “It’s shaping up to be very cool. Of course, it’s early days, so anything can happen, but I can tell you that it lives up to the high standards we set with our other spin-offs. It’s a fresh take on our universe, brought to life with a fun new tone, and having Gael and Diego on board as executive producers is fantastic. They’re really throwing themselves into it. So, while it’s still a bit early to say for sure, I’m optimistic about the script we have.”

Deadline reported back in 2023 that the The Boys universe was expanding with this Mexican version, scripted by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, known for Blue Beetle. Set to be filmed in Mexico, specific plot details are still under wraps.
Luna and Bernal, who have been friends for years and starred together in Alfonso Cuarón’s 2001 film Y Tu Mamá También, might appear in the series, although not in leading roles.

Kripke also wrapped up the fifth and final season of The Boys in July, set to air in 2026. In the meantime, fans can look forward to Season 2 of Gen V launching on September 17, and the prequel series Vought Rising is currently in production. Additionally, Prime Video offers the animated spin-off The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
