A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces has inked a six-year extension with Nike, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
This deal is considered one of the most lucrative shoe contracts ever for a female basketball player. At 28, Wilson has just wrapped up a stellar seventh season in the WNBA, securing her third MVP award unanimously, a rare achievement shared by only three others in the league’s history.
In May, Nike announced Wilson as one of their premier signature athletes, with plans to launch her own shoe line next spring. She originally partnered with Nike when she entered the league as a rookie in 2018.
According to Charania, Wilson’s contract is now among the top shoe endorsements in basketball, aligning her with other WNBA icons like Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu, who also have deals with Nike.
A two-time WNBA champion, Wilson also contributed to the U.S. women’s Olympic team’s gold medal win this past summer. Last season, she achieved a career-best average of 26.9 points and 11.9 assists per game with the Aces. However, her bid for a third consecutive WNBA championship was halted when the Aces were defeated by the New York Liberty in the semifinals of a best-of-five series.
