Jane Bright, known for her appearance on Survivor: Nicaragua, has passed away at the age of 71.
Her daughter, Ashley Hammett, shared the news of her mother’s passing on Facebook, revealing that her body was found in her home in North Carolina earlier on the same day.
“A good friend and the county sheriff discovered Jane Hammett Bright deceased in her residence today,” Hammett stated in her post. The cause of her death has yet to be announced.
Jane was born on December 13, 1953, in Jackson Springs, N.C. She was a 56-year-old dog trainer when she competed on the CBS reality show in 2010. The contestants that season were split into two groups by age, and she was placed in the older Espada tribe.

Bright’s vibrant spirit and endearing personality have left a lasting impression on her fans and fellow Survivor contestants. Donathan Hurley from Survivor: Ghost Island expressed his sorrow online.
“Lord, I sure did get my heart broken when I opened up Facebook after work!” Hurley shared on X. “One of my favorite Survivor family members, as I call them all, has passed away. I loved Jane so much!!! This lady was a firecracker! Always ready to have a good time and a good laugh! RIP Jane.”
