NBCUniversal has officially announced a major restructuring following key promotions last year. Donna Langley, Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, and Matt Strauss, Chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, have reshuffled their teams to streamline operations and enhance strategic alignment.
Key Leadership Changes
In Langley’s division, two significant promotions stand out. Pearlena Igbokwe has been elevated to Chairman, Television Studios, NBC Entertainment & Peacock Scripted. This move is part of NBCUniversal’s shift toward a more integrated network/studio model, a strategy that has been anticipated for about half a year. Igbokwe will now oversee a broad portfolio including NBC Entertainment’s scripted and unscripted shows, late-night programming, live events, and all scripted originals for Peacock.
Frances Berwick’s appointment as Chairman, Bravo & Peacock Unscripted, came as more of a surprise. Berwick, with a robust track record at Bravo where she rose from VP of Programming to a pivotal role in transforming it into a leading reality TV network, will now manage unscripted content across Bravo and Peacock. This includes documentaries, true crime series, and major shows like “The Traitors” and “Love Island,” as well as first-run syndication.
Watch on Deadline
The restructuring also includes the departure of NBCU’s unscripted chief Corie Henson, as revealed by Deadline.
Other notable changes in Langley’s team include Liz Jenkins, who as Chief Business Officer will oversee Content Strategy, TV Acquisitions, Strategy and Business Operations. Jenny Storms has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer, NBCUniversal Television & Streaming, tasked with leading brand strategy and consumer engagement across entertainment and sports, including for Peacock.
The leadership team further includes Jimmy Horowitz as Chairman, Business Affairs & Operations; Pete Levinsohn as Chairman, Global Distribution; Lissa Freed as Head of People & Culture; Evan Langweiler as Executive Vice President, Global Communications; Chris Miller as General Counsel; and Adam Moysey as Chief Financial Officer.
Langley emphasized that the new organizational structure aims to unify the Television Studios, NBC Entertainment, Bravo, and Peacock programming under a cohesive framework supported by integrated Marketing and Content Strategy teams. This, she noted, is designed to foster better collaboration, streamline decision-making, and enhance the delivery of top-tier television experiences globally.
Adjustments on Strauss’ Side
On Strauss’ end, Mark Marshall continues as Chairman, Global Advertising & Partnerships. Shannon Willett steps into a new role as Chief Commercial Officer of the Media Group, focusing on strategies to drive Peacock’s subscriber growth and its competitive stance, alongside managing cross-business initiatives.
Matt Schnaars is now President, Platform Distribution & Partnerships, leading a newly formed team that combines Content Distribution, Affiliate Relations, and Strategic Partnerships across various platforms including NBC, Peacock, Bravo, and Telemundo.
The executive roster also includes Rick Cordella as President, NBC Sports; Ken Bettsteller as President, International Networks & DTC; and Earl Marshall, who expands his role to Chief Financial Officer and EVP, Strategy, NBCU Media Group. Additional ongoing roles include Jim Denney as Chief Product Officer and Patrick Miceli as Chief Technology Officer, both for Global Streaming & NBCU Media Group; Will Gonzalez as Chief Data Officer; Andra Shapiro as General Counsel; Joanne O’Brien as Head of NBCU Media Group HR; and Courtney Rowe, who joins as EVP, Corporate & NBCU Media Group Communications.
Exiting and New Roles
In the wake of these changes, a few departures have been noted including Peacock President Kelly Campbell, as well as retirees Matt Bond, Annie Luo, and Allison Rawlings. Brian Henderson and the Peacock programming team will now operate within Entertainment and Studios.
Strauss expressed enthusiasm about the restructured leadership, emphasizing the foundation built over the past years and the strong team set to guide the new organizational structure. This structure aims to leverage the strengths of NBCUniversal’s businesses and platforms while innovating and focusing on growth.
Additionally, Jen Friedman has been promoted to Chief Communications Officer, NBCUniversal, reporting to COO Adam Miller, and Chip Sullivan is taking a new role as EVP, Corporate Initiatives after a significant tenure with NBC Entertainment and a previous 20-year stint at DreamWorks.
