Savannah Guthrie Asks For Prayers For Her Missing Mother: “Bring Her Home”

Three days after her mother disappeared, Savannah Guthrie is seeking prayers for the safe return of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

“Please pray,” was the simple plea displayed on her Instagram post.

“Join us in prayer and believe with us that she will be uplifted by them at this moment,” the Today show host wrote in her post. “We believe in the power of prayer, in voices united by love and hope. We believe in kindness, in humanity, and above all, in God.”

She added, “We need you… Bring her home.”

She also shared a scripture from Isaiah 26:3: “He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in the Lord.”

This morning, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared that the investigation into Mrs. Guthrie’s disappearance is being treated as suspicious.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen by her family around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, and despite extensive search efforts, she has yet to be found.

“While no body has been discovered, the involvement of the homicide squad is purely based on the evidence at the scene,” Nanos mentioned last night.

He continued, “Our hope is to find her safe and well, however, we cannot overlook the evidence we have.”

This morning on Today, Savannah Guthrie issued a heartfelt thank you for the overwhelming support. “Our family appreciates the outpouring of support, thoughts, and prayers. We remain hopeful for my mother’s safe return. We are grateful to the police for their efforts and urge anyone with information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s office at 520-351-4900,” said Guthrie.

Jenna Bush Hager, co-host of NBC’s Today With Jenna & Sheinelle at 10 a.m. ET, also addressed the situation during the show’s third hour on Monday, expressing deep concern and calling for public assistance in gathering information about Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.

“It’s a very personal issue for us,” said an emotional Bush Hager. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother and a cherished member of our community, is missing in Arizona.”

After co-host Sheinelle Jones echoed the family’s statement, Bush Hager added, “Nancy is dear to us, I know her personally… Our thoughts and prayers are with Savannah and her family. We are thinking of them during this distressing time.” Bush Hager also mentioned that Nancy Guthrie requires daily medication, which she might currently be without.

Numerous well-known journalists also showed their support, leaving comments on Guthrie’s post, including former Today anchor Hoda Kotb, founder of News Not Noise and former CNN White House correspondent Jessica Yellin, host of Bravo’s Andy Cohen, Meet the Press host Kristen Welker, CNN chief national affairs correspondent Jeff Zeleny, and CBS News senior correspondent Norah O’Donnell.
