Gabriel Book’s saga is set to continue with a new installment.
The quaint mystery series, Bookish, created by Mark Gatiss, has been renewed for a third season by UKTV’s U&Alibi channel, along with a two-part Christmas special slated for this year. The upcoming third season will consist of six episodes and is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
The holiday special, titled Bookish: The Crown of Destiny, will feature the meticulous bookkeeper, Book (played by Gatiss), unraveling a holiday-themed enigma. The production for the third season is expected to commence later this year with more updates to follow in the coming months.
The show is produced by Eagle Eye Drama, in collaboration with Happy Duck Films and with support from the Belgian Tax Shelter. Beta Film, based in Germany, oversees global sales as the international distributor, while PBS Distribution manages the rights in North America.
Internationally, Bookish has been distributed to over 100 territories, including Radio-Canada in Canada, HBO Max in Australia, RAI in Italy, and AMC Networks in Latin America.

The narrative follows Gatiss, who not only created the series but also stars as the unconventional bookshop owner named Book. He assists the police in solving crimes in the post-World War II era. He maintains a lavender marriage with Trottie (Polly Walker), which serves as a cover for his sexuality during a time when being gay was illegal in the UK.
