In a recent standout achievement, the Kyrgyzstan-based drama Red Pants clinched the prestigious Co-Pro Pitching Sessions award at Series Mania.
Produced by Studio Oymo and Human Films, Red Pants emerged victorious over 15 competing projects, securing a €50,000 ($58,000) prize. This award is a cornerstone of the Series Mania conference from its inception.
Additionally, the French series R91 captured the Series Mania Buyers Upfront award yesterday, while Chachachá!, a Canadian production, won the SeriesMakers Award in collaboration with the Series Mania Institute.
Red Pants, a ten-part action drama, is set in the Soviet-era Kyrgyzstan of the late 1970s. It narrates the story of Aisha, a military officer’s daughter. She establishes the infamous all-female criminal gang known as ‘Red Pants’ to seek justice for her father’s death and defy the oppressive government.

The creative force behind the series includes writer Tilek Cherikov with Erke Dzhumakmatova from Studio Oymo and co-producers Pavel Feldman & Alexander Seliverstov from Human Films.
The Co-Pro Pitching Sessions are among the most crucial aspects of the Series Mania Forum, spotlighting projects from lesser-known drama-producing nations like Kyrgyzstan. Previous recipients of this award have come from countries such as Slovakia and Ukraine.
R91, the French thriller series, follows the nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle (R91) embarking on a critical mission. The plot thickens when a crew member is found dead and another goes missing, leading to a high-stakes investigation by military detective Paul Fischer and his deputy Helena Duval.
Produced by Next Episode, the series’ international sales are managed by SND Groupe M6.
The winner of the SeriesMaker Award, Chachachá!, is an eight-part narrative from Canada penned and directed by Alison Fairweather Murray with production by Jennifer Weiss of Nice Picture!
The Series Mania Forum is in full swing today and wraps up tomorrow following the Lille Dialogues, which feature discussions throughout the day.
