Jon Stewart Decries “Arrogant” U.S.-Israeli Missile Attack On Iran: “Our Bombs Are Now Smarter Than Our President”

Jon Stewart has reluctantly revived The Daily Show‘s long-standing segment known as “Mess O’Potamia,” or “America’s Next Top Muddle,” to discuss the recent joint missile strikes by the U.S. and Israel on Iran, which resulted in the death of its supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

“Apparently, America had to initiate an entire war just to take out an 86-year-old sick man — couldn’t we have just waited, say, three weeks for the saturated fats to work their magic?” joked the political comedian.

Following the events, the SWANA nation has retaliated by targeting U.S. military bases located in countries such as Bahrain, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.

“When America and Israel go after Iran, Iran’s response is to basically attack everyone,” Stewart remarked. “From my experience in a bar fight or two, the worst response to a two-on-one situation is to start hitting everyone around you.”

On the show, correspondent Jordan Klepper reported from a location “not in Iran, but if you squint, it might look like it [Istanbul, Turkey],” sarcastically expressing his thrill over the renewal of conflict: “It feels great to be back at war! Those four weeks post-Venezuela were just so tedious. It got so dull we actually had to pretend to care about hockey. Truly dark times.”

Klepper also commented on President Donald Trump’s seemingly improvised approach to warfare, “Sure, you can wing a war. Just make it up as you go, like jazz: Skibbidi bop bop, drone strike; shibidi wop wop, tomahawk missile; salt peanuts, salt peanuts, the inevitable sectarian conflict — jazz hands!”

Stewart summed it up with, “I can’t believe it. Our bombs are now smarter than our president.”

He concluded, “It’s astonishing how quickly the right shifted from ‘peace through strength’ to ‘peace through war.’ And we’re all just passengers, caught up in a war that seems aimless, with no end in sight, all at the whims of Donald Trump.”
