Star-Studded Cast Joins BBC’s ‘Ministry Of Time’ – Adeel Akhtar, Ciaran Hinds & More!

BAFTA recipient Adeel Akhtar (Sherwood) and Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds (Belfast) are set to appear in A24’s new BBC drama series Ministry of Time.

Joining them are Hong Chau (The Whale), Tamara Lawrance (Get Millie Black), Emily Fairn (The Responder), Josh Finan (Say Nothing), Aisling Loftus (Sherwood), Tawfeek Barhom (Cairo Conspiracy), Nahuel Pérez Biscayart (120 Beats Per Minute), and Hélène Patarot (Paris, Je T’aime).

They will star alongside Aoife Hinds and Billy Howle in the series, which is adapted from Kaliane Bradley’s first novel by Alice Birch (Normal People). Aneil Karia (Top Boy) serves as the lead director of the six-episode series, produced by A24 for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

The narrative centers on the complex professional relationship between Sophy (Hinds) and Graham (Howle), evolving into a deep, forbidden love. This romance discovers the transformative power of affection across time, even as the dark agenda of the Ministry threatens their safety.

Akhtar plays Quentin Ackerly, Sophy’s supervisor at The Ministry. In a twist of casting, Aoife Hinds’ real-life father, Ciarán, portrays her character’s father, Peter, while Patarot takes on the role of her mother, Channary.

Hong Chau assumes the role of Adela, the Vice-Secretary of Expatriation; Lawrance is Simellia, a ‘bridge’ working with Sophy; Fairn portrays Margaret Kemble, a peer of Commander Gore; Finan is Captain Arthur Reginald-Smyth, and Aisling Loftus plays Anne Spencer. Barhom and Pérez Biscayart also feature as the mysterious Brigadier and Salese, respectively.

Production for the series is currently underway in various locations around London, UK. A24 leads the production team, collaborating with Birch, Bradley, Karia, and Jo McClellan of the BBC. Frances du Pille is producing, with A24 handling international distribution rights.
