‘The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart Addresses Jimmy Kimmel’s Return & Trump’s “Authoritarian Power Grabs”: “He Does Not Give A F— Anymore”

The Daily Show‘s host Jon Stewart recently spoke out about ABC’s decision to bring back Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, which is scheduled to air again tomorrow. Stewart issued a strong warning aimed at those still supporting President Donald Trump despite his ongoing attempts to consolidate power.

Starting with the announcement of Kimmel’s show coming back on air after its sudden and indefinite suspension by Disney, which was met with applause and cheers, Stewart joked, “Jimmy Kimmel is soaring today just like Advil,” referring to Trump’s earlier press conference linking autism to the use of acetaminophen.

Stewart then commented on the public’s faux outrage over potentially canceling Hulu subscriptions while they continued to binge-watch shows like Only Murders in the Building, saying, “Well done on that campaign to pretend to cancel Hulu while secretly watching four seasons of a show. You really pulled it off, congratulations.”

He also pointed out the pervasive influence of Disney in everyday life: “Isn’t it fascinating to discover just how many aspects of your daily routine are tied to Disney? It’s easy to give up on cruises, but the Avengers? Not a chance. How can ditching one company mean losing access to Winnie the Pooh, Monday Night Football, or early Hilary Duff tunes?”

Later in the segment, after discussing a recent post by Trump on Truth Social where he pushed U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to allow the Department of Justice to go after his political adversaries, Stewart directly addressed Trump’s supporters.

“You don’t need to go out of your way to justify Trump’s authoritarian tactics as lawful. He clearly doesn’t care anymore. He’s openly saying, ‘People like dictators.’ He’s openly expressing hatred for his rivals and his desire to see them punished. He’s openly stating he’ll use every power available to him to achieve these ends. So, you can either support that or join the majority of us striving to protect this constitutional republic,” Stewart urged.
