There has been a lot of discussion about Sanders’s career plans, yet he remains committed to staying in Boulder.
During Colorado’s impressive 9-3 season, which kept them in the running for the Big 12 championship until late November, head coach Deion Sanders has clearly demonstrated his capability to revive a struggling Power Five college football team. While Sanders has little left to prove—aside from perhaps securing a Big 12 and a national championship—there has been widespread speculation about whether he might consider moving to the NFL, especially given that his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, along with Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, are set to depart the college following the Alamo Bowl.
However, Sanders clarified in an interview on “The Pacman Jones Show” that he has no plans to leave Colorado at this stage. “I adore Boulder, Colorado,” Sanders expressed. “I am fully planning to continue coaching the Colorado Buffs for the foreseeable future. My goal is to complete my career here. I want to make a lasting mark, to plant my flag deep in Colorado soil.”
This statement from Sanders is one of the few times he has explicitly stated his intention to stay put. Nevertheless, the possibility remains that if an NFL team approaches him next season, particularly one that offers him the chance to coach his son Shedeur, it might be difficult for Sanders to dismiss such an opportunity outright.
Colorado aims to end their season triumphantly at the Alamo Bowl against BYU on December 28.
