Quaker Oats Recalls Product Due to Potential Undeclared Allergen

This week, Quaker Oats Company has issued a recall for specific batches of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix. The reason for the recall is the undeclared presence of milk in the products, which is not mentioned on the ingredient list.

These mixes are packaged in a 32-ounce red cardboard box and were available for purchase from November 18, 2024, onwards.

The expiration date on the recalled boxes is September 13, 2025. This date is displayed as SEP 13 25 P and can be found on the top of each box. The products also have a UPC code of “30000 65040” printed on the bottom.

For individuals allergic to milk, consuming these products could pose a serious, potentially fatal risk. Although reactions can vary in severity, the only effective treatment for a milk allergy involves avoiding any milk-containing products entirely. To date, there have been no reported allergic reactions linked to this recall, according to a statement from the company.

The issue was first identified by a retail partner of Quaker. The affected products were shipped to stores across 11 states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah, and Wisconsin. No other Pearl Milling Company or Quaker Oats Company products are currently under recall.

Originally known as Aunt Jemima, Pearl Milling Company rebranded in 2021. It is the creator of the original pancake mix that dates back to the late 1800s.

If you are allergic to milk and have purchased this product, it is advised not to use it and dispose of it immediately. For additional details, you can reach out to Quaker Consumer Relations at 1-800-407-2247, available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST.
