Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. has initiated a voluntary recall of two batches of its Bowl & Basket Onion Soup Mix due to the presence of an undisclosed egg allergen. This action was reported by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on November 12 following a consumer complaint.
The Bowl & Basket brand, exclusive to ShopRite, has had its products pulled from shelves. These items were sent to a distribution hub located in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and were then distributed to various ShopRite locations. The specifics of the recalled items are as follows:
Bowl & Basket Onion Soup Mix
Size: 2-ounce boxes
Best-By Date: SEP 27 25 E07 and OCT 11 25 E09

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), eggs are considered one of the top eight allergens. Individuals who are allergic to eggs or have a severe sensitivity to them may face serious or potentially fatal allergic reactions if they consume products containing eggs.
