Elon Musk has recently announced that Grok 3, a new AI model, will be launched shortly. This advanced model is being developed using the impressive capabilities of the Colossus Supercluster, which boasts 100,000 GPUs. During his appearance at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Musk specified that Grok 3 would be ready within the next two to three weeks, as reported by Reuters. He also stated that Grok 3 would surpass the performance of any existing AI, including the innovative DeepSeek AI.
Musk explained that Grok 3 possesses exceptional reasoning abilities. “In our preliminary tests, Grok has performed better than any other AI model we know of, which is promising,” Musk shared via a video conference with summit attendees. He added that the AI is in the final phase of its development and expects its release within a week or two.
Watch On
Once Grok 3 is available, it will be intriguing to compare it with other current large language models (LLMs) to assess the effectiveness of Musk’s investment in the Colossus Supercluster. Musk reportedly had to persuade Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang over dinner to secure these GPUs, making many curious about whether his efforts and financial commitment will indeed pay off.
This marks the second appearance of a Trump administration member at an international summit involving global leaders, with Vice President JD Vance at the Paris AI Action Summit stating that the most potent AI chips would be manufactured in the United States. It remains unclear whether Musk’s appearance was as a White House representative or not, but he serves as one of the leaders of the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE), focused on making government operations more efficient and cutting federal expenditures.
In related developments, Musk has made a staggering $100 billion bid for OpenAI, as the organization behind ChatGPT transitions from a non-profit to a for-profit entity. However, this offer was swiftly rejected, particularly as Musk had previously initiated legal action to halt this change. OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman remarked that this bid was an attempt by Musk to destabilize the company. Moreover, the offer contradicts Musk’s earlier legal actions against the company.
While Musk is attempting to acquire OpenAI, his own AI venture, xAI, is actively seeking additional funding. It has recently garnered $6 billion, doubling its total capital raised to $50 billion. This funding should suffice to acquire the 100,000 Nvidia GPUs planned for the Colossus Supercluster located in Memphis.
